Making A Magical Scroll

To make a Magic Scroll you will need a roll of paper and the supports for the scroll.

To make the supports obtain a dowel of the proper thickness and a wooden finial.
Finials are decorative caps that are used at the end of dowels, they are available
at many hardware and millstores. Most have pre-drilled holes in their base to
accommodate the dowel but you may have to drill a hole to take the dowel of your
choice.

Cut the dowel to a length slightly longer than the width of the paper you will be using
for your scroll (This measurement is the short side of the paper).
Drill the holes in the finials and lay them aside.

Choose a length of paper that is as long as you wish the completed scroll to be plus
2 inches and as wide as your supports are long minus a bit at the end for the finial.
Taking a strong paper glue fold one short edge around one dowel and glue it over
on to itself so that it is securely around the dowel and centered so that there is equal
room at each end of the dowel. Repeat with the other end taking care to fold the edge
of the paper in the same direction. (They should both be on the back of the paper)
Leave to dry.

When dry glue the inside of the hole in each finial and cap both ends of  each dowel.
Leave to dry.

When dry Start to roll the paper around each dowel so that they meet in the center all
rolled up. You may wish to affix a ribbon to the center back of the scroll and leave the
ends free so that you can tie your scroll closed.

For a more natural scroll you can gather dried strait twigs and strip them of the bark.
Use acorns, nuts or tumbled stones as finials. Think carefully and create the best scroll
for your needs.

When your  scroll is finished you need only pick up your quill and dip it into your
magical Ink and start writing important spells, perhaps in Runes or a Magical Alphabet.
