Thelema

A magical system started by Aleister Crowley in the early twentieth century
the main tenant of which is "Do what thou wilt". Thelema itself is Greek for
"Will" and understanding and promoting ones Will is key to this system. The
Will implied in this is not simple desire but rather the True Will of the Soul.

The main work in which Thelema is explained is "The Book of the Law" sometimes
known as "Liber AL vel Legis" written by Crowley and supposedly divinely
dictated to him by Aiwass, his guardian angel in the span of three hours.
There are additional books such as Liber Oz, 1941 and many, many others.

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."
The only person who can rightfully interpret the Law in Thelema is you, no one
else can do that for you and it is your responsibility. Your goal is to learn
who you truly are and to accept and embrace what that means. It is your
responsibility in life to discover your True Will and to work towards
accomplishing the goals of that Will. No one has the right to tell anyone else
what to do or to make any serve the Will of another as this is bondage.

The Law is the right of every man as we are all elements of the Divine.
Will does not equate directly with "Want" or "Desire" Will is sacred and
connected to Divinity, it is the strictest bond.

"Love is the law, love under Will, there is no law beyond do what thou wilt."
Love yourself and love others. it is our path to find happiness on Earth rather
than in an Afterlife. This life is sacred and has purpose. Search for the love
that is within the True Will, any other love that does not support the Will is
destructive. We, ourselves are the only judge of how we are to live our lives.
We are free of the control and the judgement of others. We are all equal under
The Law, we are all equal in the Universe. True happiness will not be found in
the service of the Will of another.

"There is no God but Man." This statement carries with it the challenge to be
responsible for the whole of your life and destiny. Theists and Atheist a alike
have equal access to Will. You will not be asked to follow the rule of a God,
instead you must develop within yourself the strength to forge the path of your
life. It is your path and your's alone. No other can take blame nor credit for
your success or failure but you.
